Mary Joy Ethiopia is a charity that grew from support given to vulnerable women in the Asko area of Addis Ababa, started in 1992 by Sister Zebider Zewdie. It offers free maternal care, HIV services, scholarships, vocational training, food and care for orphans and the elderly, and help for women to earn a living. Besides its Addis Ababa offices and the Asko medical and support centre, it runs programmes in Hawassa, Hossana and Arba Minch.
