Top 10 Ethiopian Coffee Exporters (2024/25)

Ethiopia earned a record USD 2.65 billion from coffee exports in the 2024/25 fiscal year, shipping about 469,000 tonnes, according to the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA). Hundreds of companies, cooperative unions and individual traders export coffee, but a small group handles a large share. The top three alone earned more than USD 460 million, about 17 percent of the total.

Tracon exported 24,310 tonnes, about a quarter of it washed coffee.

3. Hadeed Trading PLC: USD 85.5 million

6. Kebir Coffee Trading PLC: USD 62.2 million

Kebir shipped 10,296 tonnes. Two companies under the Daye Bensa name together earned about USD 62.3 million; counted as one exporter, they would edge ahead of Kebir. We list legal companies as ECTA reports them.

BNT exported 8,230 tonnes, with a higher average price per tonne than most of the top 10.

Adulina exported 7,204 tonnes. Two thirds of it was washed coffee, the highest washed share in the top 10.

How we ranked

We ranked coffee exporters by the value of green coffee exported in the 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year (8 July 2024 to 7 July 2025), using ECTA’s table “12 Months, 2017 EFY Coffee Export by Exporters”, which lists the washed and unwashed volume and value for each exporter. The national totals come from ECTA’s official Telegram channel.

About the exporter table. The company figures in this list come from an ECTA table that has been reproduced by a third party. We found it only as a copy posted on a public forum (SkyscraperCity), because ECTA’s own website is currently down and the table does not appear on its Telegram channel. We could not compare the copy with an original from ECTA. ECTA held its National Coffee Exhibition and Recognition event on 25 November 2025, but the official coverage we found does not name the exporters it honored.

We list each legal company separately, as ECTA does. Two rows in the table carry the name Fahm General Trading, one as “Private Company” and one as “P.L.C.”; combined, they would total about USD 55.3 million and place seventh, just above BNT. Commercial trade data sites treat them as one company, but we found no official source that settles whether they are one exporter, so we list them as two rows, as ECTA does. Values are in US dollars as reported by ECTA and are not adjusted. The National Bank of Ethiopia, using customs data on a July to June year, reports a slightly higher national total of USD 2.67 billion. The table covers washed and unwashed green coffee. It does not say whether roasted coffee exports are included.
